ACCOMMODATION SURVEY
With a decline in on-campus accommodation applications following the pandemic we were commissioned to undertake a survey to identify the reasons that were driving accommodation choices – on campus and off campus. This detailed survey was then complemented with a series of focus groups which enabled further understanding of the reasons behind student choice.
MARKETING REVIEW
This insight led to a series of initiatives and recommendations led by us which supported the accommodation and marketing teams to review and improve its approach to marketing accommodation as part of its wider admissions marketing strategy. This included reviewing key messaging and working with external advertising partners to raise the profile of accommodation with the marketing offering.
PRODUCT RECOMMEDATIONS
On campus, we worked closely with the estates team to work through a series of ‘you said, we did’ actions. Part of this included identifying gaps in the current accommodation offering and suggesting ways of best tailoring the product to the customers’ needs.
OPERATIONAL SUPPORT
On a more operational basis, the results of this has been to redevelop the university accommodation webpages, project manage the upgrade of their booking system, create a new accommodation proposition with new pricing, contract lengths and incentives and produce a new reporting structure. As part of this process, we were required to write several approval papers and present to the Board to get the University’s buy-in on all expenditure involved in these projects.
We continue to support the estates and communications teams with the roll-out and evolution of these initiatives.
